Does a divorce issued by a husband in a state of extreme anger count, knowing that he regrets what he said and does not wish to separate from his wife?

Anger is dangerous, and its consequences can be dire; therefore, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against it. Its remedy lies in avoiding its causes and leaving the house if necessary. Swearing by divorce is not a minor matter, as the majority of jurists hold that divorce occurs absolutely by it, even if the intention was merely to threaten. As for the divorce of an angry person, the preponderant opinion is that it takes effect unless the person is unaware of what he is saying. Ibn al-Qayyim's opinion on this matter can be adopted to avoid hardship. Regarding the specific case, no ruling can be given without knowing the details of the divorce, the exact wording used, and the reason for the oath. An ordinary person must ask trustworthy scholars and not rely solely on searching through books, as al-Qurtubi said, and not being sociable does not prevent one from asking about matters of religion.
