There is no impediment for a mother to recite the Quran or engage in Tasbeeh (glorification of God) and Tahleel (proclamation of God's oneness) to lull her child to sleep, given the virtue in this for both the mother and the child. Occupying oneself with the remembrance of Allah is better for her, and it is superior to what many mothers do by singing. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to remember Allah in all his states. The remembrance of Allah and the recitation of the Quran are prescribed before sleep for adults, and it contains a form of Ruqyah (definition) (Islamic exorcism/healing).
