The answer

Repentance before death is a great blessing, and remorse for sin is a sign of the soundness of repentance. Allah accepts the repentance of those who are remorseful, and repentance wipes away sins and transforms evil deeds into good ones. The repentant person must have a good opinion of Allah and combine fear with hope in His mercy. They should not publicize their sin or uncover Allah's covering over them. They ought to advise young people who have fallen into sin and abandon places that remind them of it. As for judging those who have committed sin, there is no harm in that if one is qualified to judge, as evidenced by the conduct of the Companions who used to commit grave sins and then went on to enforce punishments upon offenders.
