Is it more proper for a father to hasten to prayer so as not to miss the first rak'ah, or to awaken his children for Fajr prayer? And what is the ruling if he wakes up early and goes to prayer without waking them?

Waking up early and going to the mosque for prayer, and waking up children for prayer on time, are both commendable and Islamically مطلوب (required/desired). Scholars differed regarding the ruling on waking up a sleeping person for prayer. The fatwa adopted by us is that it is obligatory to wake him up if there is a fear of the prayer time expiring. It is possible to combine both matters by the father waking his children after he himself wakes up, and then he goes to the mosque. If the father wakes up late or fears missing part of the prayer, he may wake them up after returning from the mosque, as long as the prayer time has not expired, or if he finds someone else at home to wake them up. A Muslim must maintain prayer at its prescribed time.
