Is it permissible for a student of Islamic knowledge, who needs electronic and other tools for his studies but does not have sufficient money to buy them, to accept financial assistance from a man who offered to provide for all his needs and the needs of his family, or should he limit himself to asking for help only to purchase the tools?

"It is not permissible to beg from people except in limited cases, such as bearing a heavy financial burden (hamalah), or being afflicted by a calamity that swept away one's wealth, or suffering from destitution attested to by three discerning individuals from one's community. Anything other than that is ill-gotten gain (suht). It is permissible to accept money without asking, and it is preferable not to look forward to it, unless one fears being indebted to the giver, in which case it should be returned. If a student of knowledge cannot do without study materials and cannot find work in his city, he can move to another city while continuing his studies remotely. If that is not possible, it is permissible for him to ask for what he needs for his studies and knowledge from someone who offers him assistance."
