Is seeking forgiveness or praising God after burping a Sunnah or a Bid'ah?

Burping is the expulsion of air from the stomach through the mouth. There is no evidence in the Sunnah indicating the desirability of praising Allah or remembering Him after burping. Rather, it is reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, rebuked someone who burped in front of him, saying: "Keep your burping away from us; for indeed, those who are most satiated in this world will be the hungriest on the Day of Resurrection," due to the blameworthy excessive eating it implies.

Saying "Alhamdulillah" after burping falls into three categories: 1. If it is said with the belief that it is a Sunnah and a specific act of worship: This is an innovation (bid'ah). 2. If it is said habitually without believing it has any special merit: This is permissible. 3. If it is said with the awareness that burping is a blessing worthy of gratitude, without believing it to be a prescribed Sunnah: There is no harm in this.

As for remembrance after yawning, which is similar to burping, there is no specific evidence for seeking refuge (from Satan) in this context. However, there is no harm in seeking refuge from Satan if it is due to the knowledge that yawning comes from Satan, without believing it to be a Sunnah.
