Is it permissible to learn graphic design using unauthorized software and Windows versions for the sole purpose of learning, with the intention of purchasing and working with original versions after mastering the skill and without profiting from working with the unauthorized versions?

Some scholars have permitted the copying of protected software for personal use only, if a person needs to copy it because the original is unavailable or they are unable to purchase it, provided that it is not for gain or trade.

However, the fatwa [ruling] that is relied upon is the prohibition of copying protected software whose owners absolutely forbid its copying; because this is considered an infringement upon the rights of its owners. This is what the Fiqh Academies have concluded, as the Islamic Fiqh Academy decided that these rights are legally recognized and it is not permissible to infringe upon them.

Abstaining completely from using unauthorized copies of such software is more cautious for a person in their religion and clears their conscience more, even though using it for personal benefit without seeking gain is less severe.
