Sexual intercourse during the daytime in is forbidden for both spouses. The one who commits it is sinful and must offer expiation, which is: freeing a slave. If unable to do so, then fasting for two consecutive months. If still unable, then feeding sixty poor people. As for sexual intercourse during the nights of Ramadan, it is permissible until the time of Fajr (dawn) entry. This is indicated by the words of Allah Almighty: "Permitted for you, on the night of the fast, is sexual intercourse with your wives..." (Qur'an 2:187).
