Is it harmful to tell people about one's spiritual protection or good fortune, and what is the evidence for that?

If the intention behind informing people about the fortification of a person or their children, or informing them about their good or bad fortunes, is what soothsayers and astrologers announce, then this is magic (sihr) and it is impermissible to believe or approach its practitioner. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever acquires knowledge from the stars has acquired a branch of magic; the more he acquires, the more it increases." And he said: "Whoever comes to a soothsayer or a diviner and believes what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him." And he said: "Whoever comes to a diviner and asks him about something, his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights." However, if soothsayers merely inform a person about some of their affairs without the person seeking to listen to them or believing them, there is no prohibition in that, because the person gains nothing thereby. But one must keep away from them, disbelieving and denouncing them.
