The answer

It is not true that illness atones for sins and elevates ranks without seeking treatment. The Shari'ah has guided us to seek medical treatment. Some people cannot endure illness, thus missing out on much good, and may incur sin through anxiety and discontent, and might even resort to suicide. Some people achieve benefits in their health that surpass what they would gain by enduring illness. Therefore, some scholars have stated that seeking medical treatment may be better for some people.
