Is it better to perform recommended acts and abstain from disliked ones, or to accept a friend’s invitation to go out and stroll? And is a person considered to be at fault if they adhere to religious matters, such as recommended acts and Sunnahs, thereby reducing their social gatherings with uncommitted family and friends?

Going out for recreation is permissible, and it may become recommended if it is for the purpose of contemplating God's creation, or for entertaining oneself and one's family, or for inviting youth to God, because permissible means take the rulings of their purposes. If we were to choose between permissible outings and recommended acts, the recommended acts would take precedence. As for adhering to recommended acts and Sunnahs, it is among the greatest acts of worship, and it is legislated to temporarily abandon them to win over hearts.
