Is it permissible for a woman to wear patterned clothing, such as stripes and dots?

It is not permissible for a woman to go out in patterned clothes or clothes containing lines and dots if they are eye-catching and cause temptation, because the শরعي (Shar'i) dress itself should not be an adornment. Scholars have concluded that such clothes, which are ornate and attract attention, are forbidden because they allure men and tempt them, and are considered part of the adornment that is forbidden to be displayed.
