Is it permissible to remain in a mixed-gender part-time job and receive job seeker's allowance due to low income and a desire not to work full-time for religious reasons?

A Muslim must strive to earn their livelihood with their own hands and refrain from relying on people's money, especially in non-Islamic countries. Taking government aid, whether from a Muslim or non-Muslim country, is unlawful (haram) if you are not eligible for it or do not meet the conditions, as this violates Allah's command to fulfill contracts. One who works and has a salary, or one who does not work but has permissible job opportunities available, is not entitled to aid. However, if one's work is forbidden (haram), then leaving that forbidden work makes them eligible for aid, because forbidden work is not considered lawful work.
