Is it Islamically permissible for an employment agency to take half of the wages in return for providing job opportunities?

This issue falls under the category of intercession (badhl al-jah). It is permissible for the organization to take a fee in exchange for its efforts in helping a worker secure a job, provided that the fee is a fixed amount and not a permanent percentage. It is not permissible to take a permanent percentage of the worker's salary, as this would be unfair to him and exploit his need, and because a fixed percentage is not commensurate with the effort expended. It is preferable for one who intercedes not to take a fee for it, seeking thereby Allah's pleasure.
