What is the ruling on bribery in bids, knowing that they cannot be won without it?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Bribery is forbidden and a major sin. It is not permissible to give or take it. However, the majority of scholars hold that it is permissible to give it to obtain a right or to avert harm from oneself if one cannot achieve their right through legitimate means, and in this case, the sin falls upon the taker. But if bids lead to injustice against others, then it is not permissible to offer a bribe in them, because harm is not removed by harm.
