What is the ruling on dyeing part of the hair on the head, but not all of it, with a color other than black?

It is permissible to dye hair any color except black, for the original ruling on such matters is permissibility unless the Sharia prohibits it. Dyeing is forbidden if it involves an unlawful imitation of disbelievers or wicked people, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever imitates a people is one of them." Dyeing that is considered a form of effeminacy or imitation of women is also forbidden, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) prohibited and cursed those who do it. Before ruling on the permissibility of dyeing part of the head without all of it, one must ensure that it is free from imitating disbelievers, wicked people, or those who appear as bad role models. If dyeing hair is free from these violations, then there is no objection to it in any color that suits the person and is customary for someone like them.
