The answer

Listening to musical instruments and music is forbidden, with the exception of the duff (tambourine). The instrument used for playing music is also forbidden. The jurists from the four madhhabs (schools of thought) have determined that musical instruments are not considered respected property (mal muhteram), that they must be destroyed, and that there is no liability for someone who destroys them, as this is an act of disavowing evil (inkar al-munkar). It is not permissible to sell these instruments because their use is not lawful. Therefore, it is not permissible to work in a shop that sells musical instruments. Whoever abandons something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better. "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect." (Quran 65:2-3). Every body that has grown from unlawful earnings, the Fire is more befitting for it.
