When does semen exit a woman? Does semen exit a woman only during intercourse, wet dreams, or masturbation? Is the clear, viscous fluid that exits a girl when she thinks about sex considered semen, given that she feels it exiting without pleasure or climax?

The clear, viscous fluid that is discharged upon thought is pre-seminal fluid (madhy). Semen (maniy) is discharged in gushes, followed by a weakening of the body. A woman's semen is thin, yellow, or white. What is considered in determining the discharge are the characteristics of semen: its gushing discharge, the feeling of weakness thereafter, and its smell, which resembles the spathe of a date palm or dough. This necessitates ghusl (ritual bathing). Semen may be discharged due to thought or other reasons. If a woman is uncertain about the discharge, she chooses between the possibilities and assigns it the ruling of one of them, and this is the fatwa given.
