The narration of Hafs spread due to his mastery of it and his dedication to teaching it, which led many people to learn from him. He taught the recitation of Asim to people through oral transmission, and he was considered superior to Shu'bah in memorization, and was described as precise in handling the letters. What also helped in its spread was the frequent printing and distribution of Qur'ans with this narration, in addition to the Ottomans' adoption of it and the role of their imams and judges.
