What is the ruling on consuming unlawful wealth when one is in doubt about it and compelled to do so?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is forbidden to consume wealth that is predominantly believed to be unlawful, except in cases of dire necessity to save a life, as Allah Almighty says: "But whoever is forced by necessity, neither desiring it nor transgressing its limit, there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." The Sharia has warned those who consume unlawful wealth that their supplications will not be answered and that the Fire is more befitting for them. Conversely, the Sharia has encouraged the acquisition of lawful wealth, especially through manual labor.
