What is the ruling on consuming something taken from its owner unlawfully?

It is forbidden to consume Muslims' wealth unlawfully, whether through theft or encroachment, and whether the wealth belongs to a specific or unknown owner, or is public funds. This is based on the Almighty's saying: "And do not consume your properties among yourselves wrongfully," and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, your blood, your properties, and your honor are sacred to you." Whoever wrongfully takes another's wealth must return it immediately before the Day of Resurrection, where people will be judged by their good and bad deeds. The bankrupt person is one who comes on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds, but the rightful claimants take them from him. If his good deeds are exhausted, he then takes from their bad deeds and they are cast upon him, and then he is cast into the Fire.
