What is the ruling on supplicating to other than Allah?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Allah is close to His servants; He knows their circumstances and answers their prayers. He is the Creator, the Sustainer, in His hand is all good, and He is over all things competent. Allah commanded us to supplicate to Him secretly and humbly, using His Most Beautiful Names. He promised to answer prayers, either by fulfilling the request, averting harm, or reserving the reward for the Hereafter. Allah warned against worshipping Satan and prohibited supplicating to others besides Him, such as prophets, angels, the dead, or anyone else, because that is a grave shirk (associating partners with Allah) that Allah does not forgive. Those worshipped besides Allah will disown their worshippers on the Day of Resurrection.
