What is the relationship between the intellect and innate disposition?

The intellect can be instinctive (غريزيًا), which is the true intellect and by which man is distinguished, or acquired (مكتسبًا), which is the result of the instinctive intellect. Fitra (innate disposition) in language means creation (الخِلقة), and in terminology, it is the innate readiness to accept the divine law that Allah has embedded in man.

The relationship between fitra and the instinctive intellect is that the principles of the instinctive intellect are innate and exist in the human soul without the need for external experiences, and they are general, encompassing all intellects.

As for the relationship between fitra and the acquired intellect, it can be summarized as follows: intellectual processes are based on fitra, and fitra takes precedence over the intellect in case of conflict because it is certain. Fitra provides what analogy (قياس) does not, and rational proofs elucidate and awaken fitra.
