What is the origin of the disagreement and the most preponderant of the opinions regarding the positions of the prostrations of recitation (Sajadat al-Tilawah) in Surat Fussilat (is it at "if it is Him you worship" or at "and they do not weary"), and at the end of Surat an-Najm, al-Inshiqaq, and al-Alaq?

The majority of scholars hold that the prostration of recitation (sajdat al-tilawah) in Surat Fussilat is at His saying, the Most High: {and they do not grow weary} [Fussilat: 38]. While the Malikis and one view among the Shafi'is hold that it is at His saying, the Most High: {if it is Him you worship} [Fussilat: 37]. Ibn Hazm preferred this latter view, whereas Ibn Qudamah preferred the former view. There is latitude in this matter due to the absence of a definitive, established text. As for the prostration of recitation in Surat An-Najm, Al-Inshiqaq, and Al-Alaq, it is prescribed according to the majority of scholars, though the Malikis disagreed on this.
