What is the ruling on delaying the disbursement of a sum of money to an orphan under one's care for two months?

Sponsoring an orphan is one of the greatest acts of drawing closer to Allah. You do not incur sin by delaying the disbursement of funds if you have not committed to sponsoring a specific orphan. However, it is better to hasten, as Allah Almighty says: "So race to [all that is] good" and "And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord." But if you have committed to sponsoring a specific orphan, you must fulfill what you have committed to, and it is not permissible to delay his expenditure.
