What is the ruling on excessive eating that affects the health of the stomach and worship, even though the body is thin and healthy?

Extravagance is exceeding the limit in consuming permissible things. Scholars have issued a fatwa (religious edict) on its prohibition, as it is spending something in a way that is more than what is appropriate. This is based on Allah's saying: "And do not be extravagant" and His saying: "And those who, when they spend, do not squander."

Allah Almighty has made the extravagant a brother of Satan, saying: "Indeed, the squanderers are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful." And the extravagant person is not loved by Allah, as He says: "Indeed, He does not like the extravagant."

Extravagance also leads to other sins, such as showing off (riya'), weakness of character, and laziness, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No human ever filled a vessel worse than his stomach. Sufficient for any son of Adam are a few morsels to keep his back straight. But if it must be, then a third for his food, a third for his drink, and a third for his breath."

Thus, extravagance is a blameworthy trait that harms both the body and the religion.
