Is it permissible to listen to anasheed (Islamic vocal music) that is free of musical instruments if not all of its words' meanings are understood, and does the ruling differ if the anasheed is from an Islamic website, from a friend, or from a website that combines anasheed without music and songs with music?

There is no impediment to listening to anasheed (Islamic vocal music) that are free of musical instruments and similar sound effects, as long as their content is good, regardless of their source or performer, bearing in mind that men should listen to men. There is no harm in listening to anasheed that contain words not fully understood, as long as the overall meaning is good, while ensuring that most of one's time is spent on what benefits one in matters of religion and worldly life. There is no harm in permissible recreation for the soul from time to time.
