What is the ruling on anasheed (Islamic songs) with musical instruments that call to good deeds such as prayer, charity, and jihad, and is it permissible to listen to them and disseminate them?

It is not permissible to listen to anasheed that include music, even if their content is good, because listening to musical instruments (ma'azif) is prohibited according to the majority of scholars, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There will be among my Ummah people who will consider unlawful sexual intercourse, silk, wine, and musical instruments as lawful." The presence of good meanings does not justify permitting what Allah has forbidden. Virtues can be encouraged through the texts of the Sharia. It is permissible to listen to anasheed that encourage virtues and are accompanied by the daff (tambourine), as long as they do not contain anything prohibited.
