What is the ruling on a husband working as a taxi driver in a non-Islamic country, which compels him to deal with those who drink alcohol and immodestly dressed women, knowing that this work is necessary to improve their financial situation and avoid his ex-wife demanding an increase in alimony?

The husband's work is originally permissible unless it is intertwined with sin. If his work is intertwined with aiding in sin and transgression, and condoning evil without the ability to refuse it, then it is not permissible for him to practice this work, based on the words of Allah Almighty: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression." If he cannot refuse forbidden trips, then he must quit his work unless it is out of necessity (which is that which leads to perdition or unbearable hardship, or the inability to secure the minimum standard of living). If his situation reaches a state of necessity, he may remain to the extent of that necessity, while being obligated to search for an alternative. And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect.
