The question

Is it permissible for an employee to keep a gift (desk clock) presented by another company after attending an introductory workshop about its products, or must it be handed over to his company? And is it considered one of the "gifts to officials/workers" that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade, especially since the employee does not have the final say in purchasing the products and the gift will not influence his decision?

The answer

A gift is used to win over hearts, and the giver gains favor with the recipient. For this reason, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, emphasized strictness in accepting gifts from workers and employees. It is incumbent upon you to inform your employer and seek their permission regarding this gift. If they allow you to benefit from it, then there is no harm. Otherwise, hand the gift over to your employer, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Why did he not sit in the house of his father or the house of his mother and see if he would be given a gift or not?"
