The answer

The debtor (al-Gharim) is one of the categories eligible to receive zakat, provided that his debt was not incurred in an act of disobedience. If your debt was incurred for building a home for yourself and your family, and you are unable to repay it, or if you find what you can repay the debt with but would thereafter fall into poverty or destitution, then in both cases, you are entitled to receive from zakat to pay off this debt.
