Is expiation (kaffarah) obligatory for someone who broke their fast on a day in Ramadan due to food poisoning (fever and vomiting)?

If you break your fast during the day in Ramadan due to an illness that permits breaking the fast, you are not required to offer expiation (kaffarah). You only need to make up for the day you missed.
