Is it just in Islam for a girl to be asked to do household chores such as sweeping, cooking, and cleaning, while a boy is not asked to do so, and is this considered an injustice to the girl and to the boy, who might become unreliant on himself?

Every human being is facilitated for what they were created for. Thus, a woman is facilitated for tasks that a man does not perform, and a man is facilitated for tasks that a woman does not perform. Therefore, it is preferable for a girl to be accustomed to household chores, which will be an essential part of her life, especially after marriage. And it is preferable for a boy to be accustomed to outdoor tasks, such as bringing home necessities and what qualifies him for earning and livelihood in the future.

People's lives are based on integration and cooperation, and tasks and responsibilities must be distributed among them according to their natures to achieve the rectitude of society. Social justice is achieved by putting things in their proper place, not by equating dissimilar things.

This does not prevent a boy from learning some household matters to serve himself, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sometimes did so. However, the priority in household matters remains for the girl, and for the boy in matters outside the home.
