Work is an honor in Islam. Writing, organizing, and photographing scientific lectures is a permissible way to earn a living, and it is better than begging people. Zakat is obligatory on the earned money if it reaches the nisab and a full year has passed over it, after deducting any debt. The nisab is equivalent to the value of eighty-five grams of gold. There is no objection to selling photographed lectures as long as copyright is not reserved.
