Is masturbation permissible, what is the religious ruling on it, and will my prayers be accepted after engaging in it?
Masturbation is forbidden (), and it is even more reprehensible for a married person. What is even worse than that is gazing at the private parts of neighbors, as well as speaking with non- women and engaging in self-gratification through that. This indicates the poor outcome of addiction to forbidden things. Fear Allah and let your intention for repentance be sincere, for Allah accepts the repentance of whoever repents, and He desires good for you as long as you strive against your desires. If you return to sin, then repent with a sincere repentance, for every son of Adam is a sinner, and the best of sinners are those who repent. The conditions of repentance are: ceasing the disobedience, regretting it, and intending never to return to it. Striving against your desires through fasting and charity is a sign of your sincere intention. Prayer forbids indecency and evil, but it must be performed correctly and completely, with its humility, in mosques, and with the Muslim congregation. Stay away from everything that leads to sins, avoid being alone, seek righteous company, and busy yourself with acts of obedience.
