What is the ruling on wearing a turban or a shawl during prayer, and is there any prophetic text mentioning this?

It is desirable to cover the head during prayer with a turban or similar, but the prayer of one who uncovers his head is valid. No authentic hadith has been reported regarding the virtue of the turban during prayer. It is permissible to wear a shawl to protect oneself from the cold.
