By this, she has become irrevocably divorced from him (baynunah kubra), and he cannot remarry her unless she marries another man, genuinely desiring the marriage, and he consummates the marriage with her, and then either divorces her or dies, and her waiting period expires. However, if he did not intend to divorce her with that message, there is a difference of opinion among scholars regarding whether divorce has occurred.
