Is a man's saying to a living, present mujahid or scholar: "If Allah permits you, intercede for me," considered major shirk or an innovation (bid‘ah)?

Intercession belongs solely to Allah and occurs under three conditions: His satisfaction with the intercessor, His satisfaction with the one for whom intercession is made, and His permission for the intercessor. Believers will intercede for their brethren from the People of the Fire, by Allah's permission. It is permissible to ask a living, present person for intercession, such as saying, "If Allah grants you permission to intercede on the Day of Resurrection, then intercede for me," because this is a question about something contingent upon Allah's will and the person's ability to do it in the future, and this is not considered polytheism (shirk). However, it must be emphasized that devotion should be directed solely to Allah, and that this question is not desirable in principle. It is preferable for the believer to strive in obedience to Allah and distance themselves from His prohibitions, and to direct their requests and supplications to Allah alone, not to creation.
