Ibn Mas’ud narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked his Companions about making a covenant with Allah morning and evening, then taught them a supplication to be recited: “O Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, I pledge to You in this life that I bear witness that there is no god but You, alone, without partner, and that Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger,” along with a request not to entrust oneself to one’s own soul and a plea for fulfillment of the covenant on the Day of Judgment. And whoever recites this supplication, Allah will seal him and place him under the Throne, and on the Day of Judgment, the people of the covenants will be called upon, and they will enter Paradise.
