How sound is the Hadith: "Is any of you so helpless that he cannot make a covenant with Allah every morning and evening?"

There is no harm in supplicating with the words mentioned in this hadith, following the example of Ibn Mas'ud. However, it is not permissible to believe in the virtues mentioned in the hadith, such as an angel writing and sealing it, because this has not been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.

This supplication has been reported from three Companions: 1. Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him: It was reported from him through two channels: one attributed to the Prophet (marfu'), which is weak, and one attributed to him (mawquf), which is more authentic. 2. Zayd ibn Thabit, may Allah be pleased with him: The hadith reported from him is weak due to the weakness of one of its narrators and an interruption in the chain of transmission. 3. Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him: The hadith reported from him is very weak due to the weakness of its narrators and unauthentic reports (munkarat) in the chain.

In conclusion, this supplication is not authentically attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. However, whoever wishes to supplicate with its words, there is no harm in it, especially since it has been authentically reported that Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, used to supplicate with it.
