Is the hadith “O Allah, I complain to You of my weakness, lack of strength, and helplessness” authentically established, and is it permissible to supplicate with it?

The story was narrated by Al-Tabarani in his lexicon, and it was deemed weak by Ibn 'Adi and Al-Albani. However, some scholars, such as Husayn Salim Asad, considered it good (hasan), and it was cited by more than one who adhered to authenticity in writing the Sira (biography of the Prophet). None of the scholars deemed its meaning objectionable; rather, Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Al-Qayyim cited it and believed that it does not contradict patience. Therefore, there is no impediment to supplicating with it, even if the story is not authenticated.
