Is this Hadith authentic: “O Allah, Reliever of anxiety, Discloser of grief, Answering the call of the distressed, Most Merciful and Most Compassionate in this world and the Hereafter, You have mercy on me, so have mercy on me with a mercy that makes me independent of the mercy of anyone other than You”?

The supplication "O Allah, Reliever of anxiety, Discloser of grief, Answerer of the distressed, Most Merciful in this world and the Hereafter, and Most Compassionate in both, You have mercy on me, so have mercy on me with a mercy that makes me independent of the mercy of anyone other than You" has not been transmitted through an authentic chain of narration. Rather, its chains are very weak. For this reason, scholars have judged it to be fabricated and included it in books of fabricated narrations.

There is no harm for a Muslim to recite this supplication on their own, without believing in any specific virtue or additional reward, because its phrases are sound, containing humility before Allah and seeking intercession through His attributes and mercy. A similar supplication was reported from Abdul Rahman ibn Sabit in a mursal (indirect) form from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and a mursal hadith can be used for support in remembrance (dhikr) and supplication (dua). In general, it is permissible to supplicate with any words that are correct in meaning, even though the established, authentic supplications are superior.
