Does a divorce occur by saying "You are divor-" and "You are divorc-" with the intention of intimidation, and the word was not completed? And is it necessary to renew the marriage contract before consummation?

If divorce is written in an explicit phrase like "You are divorced" without the intention of divorce, or with doubt about the intention, then the divorce does not take effect. This is because writing is a metaphor (kinayah) that requires intention. Doubt in the intention means that divorce was not intended, and the marital bond (ismah) remains. There is no need to renew the marriage contract.

It is advisable for spouses to be deliberate and keen on showing respect and understanding to achieve psychological tranquility, family stability, affection, and mercy, as stated in the Almighty's قول (saying): "And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought." (Ar-Rum: 21).
