How sound is the circulated Hadith Qudsi: "O son of Adam, you have your desire and I have My desire, and only My desire shall be. If you obey My desire, I shall grant you your desire, but if you disobey My desire, I shall deprive you of your desire, and only My desire shall be"? And has a Hadith with this meaning been reported?

The statement mentioned is not a Hadith (definition) and has no meaning in the Sunnah (definition); it is a reprehensible text, for two reasons: 1. It is not permissible to attribute "hawa" (desire/whim) to Allah the Almighty, for the names and attributes of Allah are determined by divine revelation (tawqifiyyah), and Allah the Almighty has not described Himself with that in the Quran or Sunnah. 2. The word "hawa" (desire/whim) is often mentioned in religious texts in a negative context, and it is the opposite of guidance (huda), as in His (the Almighty’s) saying: (They follow nothing but conjecture and what [their] souls desire) and (Rather, those who wrong follow their [own] desires without knowledge).

The Hadith of Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, suffices instead of this statement, where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: (Whoever has the Hereafter as his primary concern, Allah will place richness in his heart and gather his affairs for him, and the world will come to him submissively. And whoever has the world as his primary concern, Allah will place poverty before his eyes and scatter his affairs for him, and nothing of the world will come to him except what has been decreed for him).
