There is no harm in adornment as long as it is not accompanied by extravagance, because Allah commanded adornment and forbade extravagance, and praised the believers by saying that they are neither extravagant nor stingy. There is a concern that someone who already owns multiple watches and buys more merely for adornment might be extravagant, as extravagance is exceeding the limit in consuming permissible things, and spending on something more than is necessary. The scholars of the Ummah have explicitly stated that extravagance is forbidden.
