A mobile phone does not take the ruling of a Mus'haf (copy of the Quran), even if it contains written or recorded Quran. Therefore, there is no objection to answering the phone while relieving oneself. However, speaking in this situation is disliked (makrooh). One should not stand up before completely finishing relieving oneself to avoid the spread of impurity or obsessive thoughts ().
