How can one overcome feelings of emptiness and longing for home and children, and regain spiritual balance and diligence in acts of worship, after the experience of divorce?
Undoubtedly, a woman of sound nature seeks chastity, and her happiness lies in her home with her husband and children. If Allah’s divine decree and destiny are contrary to what a person wishes, then that is a trial containing great wisdoms, including the heart’s attachment to the Afterlife and the raising of hands in supplication to Allah. If you have been negligent in your obligatory duties, then you must repent and resolve to be upright, for sins are among the causes of calamities.
If the husband who divorced you was righteous and you rushed into separation, you may use an intermediary to return to him. Or you may inform trustworthy individuals of your desire to marry so that they may search for a righteous husband for you, for seeking chastity is a sign of uprightness. Ask Allah to grant you chastity and a righteous husband during times when supplications are answered.
And if Allah decrees that you remain unmarried, do not be distressed, for your situation is better than that of many women who suffer in their marriages. So, praise Allah for His well-being and do not let the absence of a husband and children distract you from thanking Allah for His immense blessings such as faith and health. We advise you to seek good company that will help you do good deeds, seek knowledge, and memorize the Quran.
