Is the feeling of distress and longing after divorce, even though the husband was abusive and negligent in his religious duties, a punishment from Allah for seeking divorce, or is it a natural period of grief? And how can a divorced woman find psychological comfort?

It is impermissible to obey one's husband in matters of sin, such as mixing with non-mahram men and displaying adornment to them, or disobeying Allah. Rather, obedience is only in what is righteous. Repentance from these matters is obligatory. Seeking divorce from a husband who commands sins was a sound decision, for Allah Almighty says: "And if they separate [by divorce], Allah will enrich each of them from His abundance." It is advised to turn to Allah, strengthen one's connection with Him, learn matters of religion, associate with righteous women, occupy one's time with beneficial deeds, and frequently engage in remembrance of Allah and supplication.
