A son must obey his parents if they order him to abandon marriage to a particular girl. This is for the sake of honoring them and avoiding their disobedience, unless he fears falling into sin. Obedience to parents is obligatory in everything that is not an act of disobedience, and disobeying their command is an act of defiance. If the son marries without their consent, his marriage is valid, but he incurs sin and displeases them, and his marriage may not be blessed. Therefore, it is advised to obey them or try to convince them. If they do not agree, it is better to leave the girl and obey the parents.
