Is it better for a beginner student of knowledge to listen to one trusted shaykh, or to more than one shaykh, with the fear of falling into error or becoming distracted?

If a beginner is successful in choosing a well-grounded, رباني (divine-oriented) scholar and adheres to them, this is more conducive to comprehending, memorizing, understanding, and solidifying knowledge, as opposed to being exposed to differing methodologies of ترجيح (preferencing one opinion over another), which may cause misunderstanding and confusion. If there are multiple fields of knowledge, there is no impediment to receiving each field from the most proficient shuyukh, and Sheikh Al-Uthaymeen recommended this. As for the intermediate student, it is advisable for them to diversify among scholars to broaden their understanding and grasp what their primary shaykh might miss.
